The American Saddlebred and Sporthorse Registries of Australasia Incorporated (ASSRA Inc.) registers pure and partbred American Saddlebred horses and maintains the original purebred and partbred American Saddlebred Stud Books of Australia (formerly owned by ASHAA Inc).
The Registry supports a wide program of awards recognising the achievements of exceptional pure and partbred American Saddlebreds. These awards include Awards for Saddlebred Horses, a lifetime pointscore system that entitles any eligible horse to recognition for exceptional performance in all recognised sports, including dressage, endurance, eventing, showjumping, harness and halter.
The committee of ASSRA produces a quarterly newsletter that showcases the achievements of Saddlebreds and their owners in show and competition, lists current registrations and transfers, upcoming shows with American Saddlebred classes, information about Saddlebreds abroad, articles pertaining to the American Saddlebred and national news of interest to pure and partbred American Saddlebred owners in Australia.
ASSRA actively campaigns and promotes the use of the American Saddlebred horse as a truly versatile family and competition horse through providing information about the breed, their history and special characteristics.
ASSRA encourages good fellowship, sportsmanship and horsemanship.
The Registry keeps the purebred Stud Book pure through adherence to the requirements of the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA USA) including DNA parentage verification, and can trace the pedigree of all purebred registered American Saddlebreds back to their original importation into Australia in the 1960's.
